Portable App Updaters

Eight tools that keep Chrome, Edge, Brave, Chromium, Opera, Vivaldi, Thunderbird and Betterbird portable and up to date.

Each updater downloads its browser in every release channel – Canary, Dev, Beta, Stable – for x86 and x64, and installs it as a portable version: one self-contained folder per version, nothing written to the user profile. The Thunderbird updater does the same for Beta, Release and ESR, the Betterbird updater for Release and Previous – each with the mail profile in its own Profile folder.

Highlights

  • 02

    Truly portable

A launcher keeps profile and cache inside the browser’s folder.

  • 03

    At a glance

Green means up to date, orange means an update is waiting.

  • 04

    Shortcuts & language

Desktop and start-menu entries, browser UI language per flag.

How it’s built

All eight share one C# code base and one hand-drawn Windows 11 UI library. Version information comes straight from the vendors’ own update services – for Chromium, the updater maps each Chrome channel to the matching snapshot build. Self-updates are verified with a minisign signature before they are installed.
