A lean video player that casts to Chromecast, DLNA and AirPlay.

Kast plays almost any video format and sends it to the TV with one click – including your choice of audio track and subtitles, styled the way you like them.

How it’s built

Kast combines Tauri 2 and Rust with libmpv: the video is rendered natively underneath a transparent WebView, so the on-screen controls are plain HTML while playback stays as fast as mpv itself. Casting, device discovery and the local media server are written in Rust.
